Uncle Siphuncle
I've shot a few bobcats in TX and peroxided their skulls much like your own. I also have taken and whitetail deer, axis deer, mouflon ram, pronghorn antelope, nilgai antelope, blackbuck antelope, bison, coyote, fox, wild hog, armadillo, javelina and badger skulls. There are all pretty good for comparative anatomy with the fossilized variety. Grüße, Daniel A. Wöhr aus Südtexas "To the motivated go the spoils." Harry Pristis
I just bought this cool skull!!! Hey, Worthy . . . You don't provide us a scale for the size of this skull; but, it seems to me to be too big to be a bobcat. Are you certain that it is not a cougar or mountain lion? The Florida subspecies is protected, but you can legally possess western subspecies. I don't have a bobcat skull to compare your specimen with, but here is a mountain lion. The skull length (incisors to occiputal ridge) is 8.75 inches. -------Harry Pristis http://pristis.wix.com/the-demijohn-page What seest thou else In the dark backward and abysm of time? ---Shakespeare, The Tempest

Boesse
Ya, I've got a nice one about that size or slightly smaller that I bought from a taxidermist in Fort Benton, Montana. Nice skull! You gotta love prepared skeletal material.
Necrocanis
I live in great falls montana, and the vast majority of my collection is modern animals that I have prepared myself. Including several full skeletal mounts. My dream would be to find a nice full fossil skeleton in good enough shape to mount like I do the modern animals. I've done horse skulls up to 24", which is huge. I've also done a fallow deer, many whitetails, and tons of smaller mammals. I have many many fish skulls and skeletons that I have done and I am working on. I'll have to get some good pics when I get home from work and Post them up. Half of my collection is here in montana with me and the other half is still in NC with my mother. I have about 10 different species of modern cats. darren
Great skull. You could soak it in water and Potassium permanganate. It will darken bone to a brown fossil looking color. d
