CALWilson
I found this in the same creek as the dino prints. It's really wild looking--maybe a turtle/tortoise shell? Has anyone seen anything like it?
Fossildude19
Sorry, but I'm not seeing anything with organic origins in this pic - from the stains I'd say it was in the water a long time - Just an oddly eroded boulder, I think. Not really seeing any fossil here. CALWilson
Maybe all I have is a very large, very cool "paper weight" then The rock's design is very symmetrical and balanced. Could it possibly be a stone sculpture? The Indian tribe that lived here in Solebury, PA was called the Turtle Tribe.
snolly50
That's a great, wild looking rock and it doesn't take too much imagination to see a turtle. However, an organic turtle, living or fossilized, will display prominent sutures marking the areas of fused bone of its shell. From the photo your piece appears lumpy, but smooth surfaced i.e. no sutures. It's a wonderful piece. If it were mine, I would put it in the garden and tell kids it was an ancient turtle that was turned to stone by a basilisk.
