A big wave like that could make a mess of the local stratigraphy, putting old rocks on top of new.

I wonder how many death assemblages and "hash" layers are from such big geological forces? I read somewhere that there is anomolous material on the Balcones Escarpment that could have gotten there as a result of the Chixalub impact.

I heard something similar at some point, apparently there have been a few geologic misconceptions because of the power of the ocean.
