kburke38
Hi. I found a few of these trace fossils in a Permian marine environment deposit. Nearby (1km ) were few bivalves but nothing close to where I found these. They were reasonably common and I think they look to be worm traces. The 3 channels all lead back to the base and I think it’s where the animal drew sediment back to feed. Nearby ones have no uniformity of direction and they all face different was, so I don’t think water current etc was a causation of the 3 channels facing a certain direction. I first thought of Echiurans but they are not spoked and always seem to have 3 channels coming out of the base and fan out. Location if north Queensland in Australia. Any ideas would be gratefully welcomed! Edited August 19, 2012 by Auspex
