Metopocetus
I find a lot of these Ecphora sp. shells at the beach I frequent. They "normally" have 4 costae but recently I found some that had more than that. Now it isn't that I never found them before, I just never noticed the extra costae before. Looking through my collection I came across another couple that had the extra costae. So it makes me wonder, are the extra costae from some abnormality in the shell or is it completely normal in this Genus but never described as such? Auspex
With their increasing frequency, it sounds like they're becoming the normal abnormality "There has been an alarming increase in the number of things I know nothing about." - Ashleigh Ellwood Brilliant “Try to learn something about everything and everything about something.” - Thomas Henry Huxley >Paleontology is an evolving science. >May your wonders never cease!
