docdutronc Posted November 3, 2008 Share Posted November 3, 2008 Aulacopteris vulgaris Grand'Eury is a fern rachis ,this sample present a main bifurcation ,aulacopteris believe to the Neuropterid ferns Cyclopteris orbicularis Brongniart ,is a orbicular leave ,Professors Cleal and Shute ( GB ) interprete this cyclopterid folioles as entire shade leave ,when the plant is junvenil. The neuropteris foliage appear when the plant grow up in the canopy....,so neuropteris leaves are sun leaves... that is the modern paleobotanic and interessant theory ...what do you think about this hypothesis ????? Whether this observation applies in the case here, though, is questionable.
