Hi! My name is Joey and new on this forum.
I would like to get some more information about this object.

So my girlfriend told me she bought a 'rare' fossil, when she was a kid. She bought it in Texas at a ''Rare Fossil Museum''.
It was an auction, so the auction started at a value of $8500! I got told she offerd $10.000 ..
Can someone give me some information about this object? She also told me it was found around 1737.
I would really appriciate it!

Welcome to the forum!

The fossil is an ammonite; it is cut and polished on one side so that you can see the inner architecture of the shell and the walls of the chambers which were filled with air (gas) in life. It is difficult to say from the quality of the pictures the name of the ammonite. It would help to know where it was found. Looks a little like lower jurassic.

I hope that's an "april joke" and your girlfriend didn't actally pay 10000 USD for this specimen. It's value is about a few dollars.

In Europe they use periods instead of commas to separate thousands.

The plural of "anecdote" is not "evidence".
