the site has been given a major overhaul, with new trenches dug down through the Windom Shale to the Tichenor Limestone, it is much easier to pull out large slabs to split.

a few of the fossils from the last several days. There were several prone Eldredgeops rana, a pyrite cast of an eldredgeops, and that Greenops barberi posted previously this week.

My multiple trilobite slab eludes me for now, but there were a couple of times they got pretty dense, I am sure this year I will find that nice plate... :)

Very cool finds. I really like the cleaned trilobite.

Fossils are simply one of the coolest things on earth--discovering them is just marvelous! Makes you all giddy inside!

Great finds Xonenine ! I am hoping to take a trip here during the week of April 14th-20th. If anyone is going to be heading there during that time frame, it could be neat to get together.

Some nice stuff, Carmine, and always nice to see site pics!

Did you coat that Greenops in something or is it just wet?

Carmine,

Thanks for the trip report. :)

Nice finds, - those should clean up nicely.

Looks like they did tear it up quite a bit.

Good to see they are okay with exposing more of the layers.

Glad you were able to get out some.

thanks Tom! Some would no doubt balk at the cyano application, I try to save it as a last resort when a fossil is not going to survive complete without immediate consolidation :)

That's a good reason reason to do that. I think experienced preppers like Malcolm can clean that up so it's unnoticeable..?

Wow! That place looks awesome! Those trilos are cool. So is that place like a fossil park?

Great finds Carmine!

I haven't been to a fossil park yet - Penn Dixie has yearly memberships, for the price of only 40 dollars for a family Membership valid for unlimited visits!

Great to see that they trenched down again. Hopefully the drainage is a little better this time. I want to get back up there to explore the Brach layer just above the Tichenor.

the scale is a treasured gift that I misplaced forever, under a rock of course :)

it's time to retire it so it stays nice in my collection now, that's a first, a scale for my collection.I will have to find that nice site mikecable posted I believe, sells a very similar scale in lots of 10, so I will have some extras... :)

that Brach layer is really one of the most fun areas to collect for me, with many surprises, and sometimes very frustrating also, the shale gets so dense! Hopefully it will be a little easier to pull out a few slabs of that as well now :)

there are also tons of coiled crinoid stems, haven't found a whole one yet, it is interesting to find them all coiled up, 'course given the density it is a lot of work to dig up a few.
