Guest Nicholas
"This is possibly the most ancient three-fingered dinosaur," said one of the researchers, Cristiano Dal Sasso of Milan's Natural History Museum. "There are anatomical features typical of more evolved meat-eating dinosaurs." Find the article HERE!
mommabetts
Good read, can you imagine the size of that wishbone? Thanks for posting
Auspex
Pretty darn bird-like, but not necessarily a progenitor. I have long thought that the fused furcular evolved as an aid to respiration, helping to hold the airways open (like the "breathe-right" strip on a football player's nose bridge). If this animal also has uncinate processes (overlapping "wings" on the ribs, for a bellows effect), it would argue for a high metabolic rate fueled by lots of oxygen.
