Ashleyy
Please help me figure out what this is! My Dad found it near his work about a year ago. It looks like it could be made out of road pavement or some kind of rock. It appears to have two slanted slits for eyes, two inward-curved ears, and what kind of looks like a spine on the back of it. I've attached photos, please help!

kwilson
Looks like the internal cast of some sort of bivalve mollusc. Karl A. Wilson (NY Paleontology): http://bingweb.binghamton.edu/~kwilson/home.htm

Ashleyy
But it doesn't look like a normal fossil, it looks kind of like it's made out of road pavement. I thought for the longest time someone just made it.
Ashleyy
It has almost perfect symmetric lines that look like eyes and a sort of spine on the back.
Fossildude19
The previous respondents are correct, - It is a cucullaea bivalve. Auspex
But it doesn't look like a normal fossil, it looks kind of like it's made out of road pavement... It is an internal mold, and is made of whatever sediment filled the clam's empty valves, before they dissolved away.
