Pennsylvanian Period

I found this nodule and didn't freeze and thaw as I thought it

contained scraps so I used the hammer tap instead. Under the

loupe I can see features that remind me of trilobites. I am hoping

that's what it is as I don't find many. I took about 30 shots and although

not great they are the best I could do..

Yes it is what is left of what I think is a palladin marrowensis. Like the one as my avatar. The ditos and the pallas are both found in the same geographic locations. Difficult to separate the two as fragments. Jess B.

This particular example is quite easy to differentiate. Ditomopyge has a distinctive medial preoccipital lobe and Paladin does not. This feature is prominently displayed on Roz's specimen.

Pir, you're right. Just didn't look close enough.

Most of the Ditos I find are found freestone.

Roz, did it come from the Run Away Bay area?

Some of my favorite hunting is near there.

Considering the lake is down so much the pickin should be exellent.

Maybe time for me to get back out there. With a canoe.

With a canoe you could hit quite a few extra places.. I tried once with an inflatable

but the trip was a total disaster! I love the lake.. I think it has been down quite awhile.. Makes

very good hunting.

Wow! What a great find girl. :fistbump:
