Oxytropidoceras
Someone is having fun posting pictures of crinoid stems to the Internet and claiming them to be fossils of artificial screws. One of the initial articles appear to be either: 1. Machine dated at 400 million years found in Russia, Brazil Weird News, March 8, 2012, http://brazilweirdnews.blogspot.com/2012/03/machine-dated-at-400-million-years.html or 2. Misterioso Fossile in Russia : Astronave Antica? March 6, 2012, http://informiamo.altervista.org/blog/misterioso-fossile-in-russia-astronave-antica/ Looks like someone is indulging in a practical joke as the pictures of this alleged “fossil screw” from Russia comes from File:FossileLaudonomphalus regularisP1.jpg on Wikimedia at: http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:FossileLaudonomphalus_regularisP1.jpg and File:FossileLaudonomphalus regularis.jpg at http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:FossileLaudonomphalus_regularis.jpg Since the article's picture was borrowed from a Wikimedia web page, where it is clearly identified as crinoid stems, this "400 million year screw" article is clearly a practical joke. Other pictures of crinoid stems appear on the September 2012 Brazil Weird News web Site in "New Informations and Photos of the Machine Dated in 400 Million Years" at http://brazilweirdnews.blogspot.com/2012/09/new-informations-and-photos-of-machine.html Although this article claims an independent, but unverifiable source for these crinoid stems, the credibility of whoever first falsely reported them as an ancient "fossilized" screws is suspect as well. Later, the story about the pictures in the "New Informationsand Photos of the Machine Dated in 400 Million Years" article appeared as story about a "300 million year old screw" at: http://www.disclose.tv/news/300_million_years_old_Screw_found_Who_built_it/85766 Yours, Paul H.
