Tortoise Spur?

I found this slightly pointed, flat-bottomed, small, black and dense bone on Brownie's Beach/Bayfront Park on the shore of the Chesapeake Bay in Maryland.

I was thinking that it looked like a tortoise fossil that I saw on another page.

What do you think?
