Boesse Posted December 21, 2008 Share Posted December 21, 2008 Based on the lack of similarity to a neural (middle plates), costal (large, long, flat 'plates', oriented perpendicular to the vertebral column) , or marginal (one of the bones along the side of the shell); these are the bones of the carapace.
