I like a lot to find two different species on the same matrix very close together,it help to imagine the natural environment where they lived,it would be nice to see other samples :)

Thanks for the great thread and excellent examples so far. Attached are a few of my interesting fish fossil associations. IMG1 is a pair of Knightia sp. from the Eocene Green River playing hide and seek in an abandoned piece of driftwood. IMG2 is quite unusual with a Lycoptera sp. and cockroach from the lower Cretaceous of Liaoning, China. IMG3 is a late Jurassic Cavenderichthys talbragarensis that fossilized next to a frond of Agathis jurassica from New South Wales, Australia.

The fish and Hyrcantha is spectacular! Here's another interesting fish fossil association.

A fish scale and 2 March flies (Plecia sp.) from the Eocene Klondike Fm. in Republic, WA.

Good idea Gery, and nice examples all of you!

I don't have many pics of my examples handy, and I'm not the best photog but here is a piece from Mt Tzuhalem with an Acila shumardi bivalve, unnamed small echinoid and Glyptostrobus frond. (Too bad the Acila is only a neg.)

Most of the pieces I have from the Mississippian Price Fm of Virginia are association pieces, including phyllocarid, branchiopod, plants, bivalves, orthocone and that weird so-called jellyfish (who knows what it really is). I have already shown these elsewhere but can't hurt to give them more exposure...

Nothing special species wise but a nice example of the two common mako teeth of SHarktooth Hill. Both teeth are in original matrix with enough of the matrix removed to display the teeth.

Where do you get these nice associations, Gery??

I liked this piece which I recently found at a site 15 mins away from here... It's just impressions of nothing special but there are 3 different things on it - brachiopod Cyclothyris susiensis, bivalve Willamactra suciensis(?) (same species name!) and an UnID'd pecten-type bv.

I also have a couple of these assemblages from the Upper Oligocene Sooke Formation near Sooke, Vancouver Island (on Juan de Fuca Strait), containing at least 4 species of gastro and at least one clam (Spisula?):

These Famennian Ductina vietnamica trilobites from China sometimes come surrounded with hyoliths, or apparently Cricoconarids (similar to Tentaculitids) according to Shamalama:
