Recommend A Dissecting Microscope

XZY

Recommended Posts

Hello

I am looking to purchase a dissecting microscope to view my fossils. Any recommendations as to which brand / model. I would like to capture images on my computer as well. Budget is up to $500 ( maybe this is too low to get anything worthwhile?) Thanks for any input.

There have been a few good discussions on the forum

regarding buying scopes. Search the forum atthe top of the page

type 'microscope advice' and select forums to search

good luck

I could only recommend whatever pleecan says.

There are some great posts related to microscopy and photography

Found this AM Scope with 20 & 40x optics with an electronic eyepiece camera & software for $250 on ebay. Fast shipping and easy to setup software.

I agree with pleecan 100% ... the two most important aspects of a binocular microscope for doing what we do are the boom stand, and the variable zoom.
