MarcoSr
I want to thank Bill for sending me almost a gallon of well washed matrix from a Mosaic Mine in Florida. A five gallon bucket of raw matrix taken directly from the mine washed down to one gallon using a .5mm sieve. I had asked Bill to use a .5mm sieve because I wanted to see if I could find several species which would fall through window screen. The matrix had a diversity of shark, ray and fish species from the Bone Valley Member of the Peace River Formation, Pliocene to the Miocene. The specimens that I found all had the really nice Bone Valley colors. There were, however, a lot of damaged specimens which could have been the result of the mining operations. This is the third post that I have made recently on micros from three different sites in Florida. The other two can be found at the below links: http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/42176-shark-ray-fish-and-other-micros-from-a-creek-in-florida/ http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/42036-shark-ray-fish-and-other-micros-from-the-peace-river-of-florida/ If you place your cursor on a JPEG image you will see the file name which will have the specimen id as best that I can determine and the specimen size. If you can identify the specimens further please do so. Each matrix that I search makes me more of an avid micro tooth collector. If anyone has or can collect good matrix with shark, ray, and fish micros please send me a PM. Some of the shark teeth including Carcharhinus, Rhizoprionodons etc.: Some of the ray teeth including Rhynchobatus, Dasyatis, Myliobatis, Rhinoptera etc., a ray dermal scute and a ray barb: Some of the fish teeth and a fish vertebra: Continued in the next reply.
