Spahic01
I can't figure out what kind of bone that is and what kind of animal it belongs. It is probably part of fish, amphibia, but maybe it can be pray of bird that was flying over a lake and drop it... Please someone help me... claire01
Wow, that is very interesting looking. Parts of it do look fishy, but other parts, not so much. I can't wait to hear what it may be. It looks recent to me, though, not fossilized.
Taogan
Are you sure it's bone? It looks a bit plant like, with what appear to be rootlets
RichW9090
It appears to be a stick, with some sort of plant growth on it, like algae or moss or something. The plural of "anecdote" is not "evidence".
lissa318
It looks more branch or root like to me but I am no expert...
JohnJ
Maybe a part of fish gill? The human mind has the ability to believe anything is true. - JJ
claire01
I think you're on to something JohnJ: http://research.kahaku.go.jp/zoology/Fishes_of_Libong/intro03.html Scroll down just a tad for a fish gill image.
Taogan
I've looked again, it is smaller than I first thought so a fragment of a gill is a possibility. A clear picture with a ruler next to it might help.
Spahic01
Yes, that's it. Thanks a lot guys.
RichW9090
I am fairly sure it is not a gill element of a fish. The plural of "anecdote" is not "evidence".
uncoat
I think you're on to something JohnJ: http://research.kahaku.go.jp/zoology/Fishes_of_Libong/intro03.html Scroll down just a tad for a fish gill image. It definitely looks fishy to me as well. The pointy structures that seem to overlap on the side opposite the hair like structures remind me of Cow Shark teeth. Im not suggesting that this is from a shark, only that it looks to me like it is from a water dwelling animal. painshill
Looks to me like adventitious roots of the kind produced by climbers such as ivy and many semi-aquatic plants found in shallow water. http://visualsunlimited.photoshelter.com/image/I0000X0Jcio9Czt8 Roger I keep six honest serving-men (they taught me all I knew);Their names are What and Why and When and How and Where and Who [Rudyard Kipling]
