Hi from Greg in Oriental, NC - this is my 1st post, 1st photo attempts, and generally an experiment in progress. All feedback/critique will be welcomed and appreciated. As will specific tooth ID's as my expertise is limited at best.

But I do have the patience to "prospect" like this in Aurora spoil material.........which I'm discovering is scattered in various sites around my new home here on Brown Creek.

I've been screening for a few years now and these are a very small portion of the results..........and if there is interest more could follow.

I continue to be amazed at what can be discovered in the dirt I inspect at my kitchen table!

A nice collection of small teeth. I noticed one oddball tooth among your catsharks. I've circled it in red. It is a skate tooth (raja). Oriental is a nice place to live. I worked there for a week a few years back.

Nice cat shark teeth. I agree with Al Dente that you definitely have a Raja sp. in with your cat sharks. You might also have a second. You can check out closer the tooth circled in black.

You also have some really nice Rhincodon cf typus and some nice fish teeth. You might look at the teeth that I circled below a little closer. I suspect that they are not Rhincodon.

Hello! I don't know IDs of fossils much, but I love viewing beautiful specimens like the ones you have found there! Do you have ray teeth like Dasyatis you can show us? I'd love to see them:) Great finds, and beautiful cleaning job on the fossils. Your photography is very good:)

Muchas gracias to Al Dente & Marco Sr. Took a closer look at the 3 non-Rhincodons......and they were for sure chipped "fakes" and fooled me (generally an easy thing to do when I am hoping to find a scarce one!)

And the two Rajas have been moved over to go with other ray teeth.

To Aetobatus....will work to get a few ray teeth photo'd and onto the Forum. Think I can get better photos by keeping the subject more in the center of the lens.......these point and shoots are a bit blurry out on the edges of the lens.

This feedback is great since it is "forcing" me to do collection organization that is long overdue!

Thanks for sharing moosemok.

It blows me away how others can pick out misclassified fossils so quickly. Even looking at those circled, I'm still amazed.

I see I'm going to have trouble classifying properly for the new display unit I'm getting.

Hi Greg, welcome tot he forum. There are many of us on here who have been collecting micro's from Lee Creek for years and they continue to amaze us every day. I have spent lots of time in and around Oriental, used to fish allot at the bridge over Dawson Creek. I suspect the picture you have labeled as "megs maybe" are in fact some species of sand tiger, probably Carcharias. It is nice having Lee Creek material in your yard, especially the older stuff. If you do a search on Lee Creek micro's you will find many posts to check out about them.
