Post Your Bunny Pics Here

I’ve had more then a few fossil, rabbit (Palaeolagus) skulls from the American West over the years but this one is my favorite! The nodule this skull is in looks to me to be part of a burrow. Maybe that’s why the skull is in such good shape. I have had this specimen in my collection for many years but I really haven’t spent any time on photographing it until today.

Please add your bunny skulls to this thread.

Thanks

Mikey

I like it.... the only bunny I have is the one that lives in the backyard and my dog hasn't been able to catch it yet, but she keeps trying.......

Part of a burrow...probably had some big animal step down in the wrong place and collapse it's hole with him in it, poor little thing!

No fossil rabbits in this part of the world but I snapped a photo of this skull (most certainly a specimen of Oryctolagus cuniculus) on a recent field trip :P .

Cool pic tooth claw! Them bunnies are a problem down under a hear.

This is my Ice Age bunny -

SYLVILAGUS sp.

Rabbit

Middle Pleistocene

6000,000 - 100,000 Years old

Nuckolls County, Nebraska

I would have to say that this is the second rarest skull in my Ice Age skull collection. Rabbits are by no means rare but they have very delicate skulls and were eaten whole or crushed to pieces by most preadtors. It is missing the back of the skull (occipital) and the nasals. It still has both incisors and six complete teeth.

Thanks

Mikey
