Lunch Time Hunt

Here's some stuff I found at Ft Hood during my lunch brake yesterday. On the large piece there's a couple spots that look like quartz deposits but they're oddly shaped so I figured I'd show them, but what caught my eye was what looks like a shell. Enjoy!

I used to run around with a buddy on Ft. Hood and found some killer stuff. At one point, however, MPs told him he couldn't collect there anymore. I hope that has changed. I remember grabbing wonderful Walnut Fm echinoids, ammonites, shark and fish teeth there once upon a time....

All this stuff was found along the fence to my motorpool. So far no one has bothered me. As far as I know Ft Hood doesn't have any policy against it. I can't wait to find some echinoids and ammonites. There's a large hill thats cut out next to my house that I'm going to check out this weekend.

All those days I spent out in the field and I spent my time sneaking off fishing in the ponds when I should have been fossil hunting!

i've only heard of people getting warnings for casual surface collecting. unaware of current official policy.

vert matl hasnt been particularly abundant in my walnut hunts, but echs, esp heteraster texanus, should be easy finds for you.

Cool ill keep an eye out. I don't even know were to find a policy on fossil collecting, maybe IG could tell me. Off topic but I know when I was at ft lewis you could get permits to cut down trees and do other things on post.
