Phalange Id?

Recommended Posts

I found this piece off the coast of Venice, Fl about a year ago. Since then, I have been unable to ID on my own. I have a few candidates in mind, but I wanted to see if any veteran "bone guys" could shed some light on my find.

I'm a very casual hunter. Biology teacher during the year, and fossil hunter along the Fl coast for the summer. I'm still getting my feet wet. Pun intended.

Thanks!

At first glance it looks like a proximal phalange from a large cat, I have heard of jaguar material coming from Venice. It's a fantastic specimen, great preservation.
