Jon,

Your footprint casts are so unusual for me to see.

I am impressed with your ability to figure them out /ID them - you obviously have a ton of experience in this area.

Thanks for posting all of your cool finds - I am enjoying this thread immensely.

A most remarkable footcast from a small ornithopod, which has walked onto two infant prints, which then preserved sitting on top thus.

Well defined infant print pointing right, at top end of the footcast... the lesser defined print is near lower end....

I love the Ankylosaur vertebra!

Bet you were thrilled when you found that. All these finds continue to add to the illusion that these fossils are quite common when i doubt that is the case. You must practically live on the beach :P

Certainly not common :) Was a buzz finding the Ankylosaur vert, just about spotted it, poking above the sand. I live just up from the beach, so yes its a convenient location ! :D

Thanks, its a lovely area to search, although the cliffs are pretty unstable with many small falls and occasional large collapses !

Did you collect these or have to leave them because of their size/weight?

The second foot print is especially worth salvaging but looks like it would be very difficult to remove from the rest of the rock. Does the water action erode the rocks very quickly or will that footprint be in great shape for many years?

Yep i wouldn't want to damage it in the process of extraction.

The main worry re footprints and casts is that some are quite fragile or indeed very fragile, and easily break if a rock were to roll into it, or somebody simply walking on it could cause damage. The general erosion via sea and sand would take quite a few decades i would think.
