old bones
I have these last few odd finds from the Rattlesnake Creek, Gainesville, Florida matrix still without IDs. I am putting out there in the hopes that someone will recognize them. All 3 photos are multiple views of each item. This matrix is mainly Miocene - Pleistocene. Thanks for looking. 1 2
Auspex
#3 is a dermal denticle, I believe, and remind me of some I've seen labeled as "Thornback Skate". fossilized6s
#1 looks to me like a fish or reptile jaw. ~Charlie~ "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why.....i dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" ~RFK ->Get your Mosasaur print ->How to spot a fake Trilobite ->How to identify a CONCRETION from a DINOSAUR EGG

MarcoSr
Although #1 does look like a jaw, I believe it is a crab claw tip. I have found similar looking partial specimens from Gainesville including the one below that are crab claw tips with damage. Marco Sr. "Any day that you can fossil hunt is a great day." Crab claw fragment1 10mm.jpg Marco Sr. I gave serious thought to it being crab material, MarcoSr. I have found a lot of crab claws, including one of those like yours. The texture is very different on this item, and the holes are so regularly spaced. The one thing that does point that way, is the curve of the thing. Thanks for looking at this.
