Nice photos Lissa. I just found a gar tooth in my Alafia matrix and didn't know what it was. Good timing on the post!

Good stuff Lissa! That is a beautiful Hemi!

Thank you! I am pretty thrilled with it!!! Sixgill Pete said there are 2 thresher shark teeth and they are pretty sought after in the Lee Creek material. I am super excited that I found one! :D

That's great Sacha!!! And thanks! :) I have been meaning to message you to see what, if any, matrix you have available... I am getting concerned about running out before any is available again. I may be slightly addicted... lol ;)

Matrix is lots of fun and has a variety of fossils that also vary depending on where it's from. :) These are from Lee Creek, NC. Matrix is often available from FL and other locations. The thing you have to realize though is objects appear larger in pictures than they actually are... lol The lines on the ruler are millimeter and a lot of the finds are pretty small (at the same time easy to store and matrix can be sorted from the comfort of home). I find sorting matrix very relaxing and enjoyable. There are ray teeth, fish vertebra and other fossils I found in this mix that are honestly not much bigger than the head of a needle. Of course there are larger teeth as well. I get very excited when I find nice specimens or new additions to my collection! I use a 5x and 10x watchmakers loupe to help me see smaller fossils better. I take a lot of my pictures right through these loupes as well. :)

I just picked up about 200 lbs. of Peace River matrix and I still have about 40 pounds of Withlacoochee Eocene matrix. I was stocking up before the rainy season. I also have a little Alafia river matrix left.....it's not especially productive, but MarcoSr found some decent stuff in it.

Lissa

Really nice specimens. You are getting very good with your ids. I especially like the thresher and Hemipristis. Your two ray teeth (.7) are Dasyatis sp. I believe that the tooth on the right with the two other fish teeth is a partial crown of a shark tooth.

Thanks Marco Sr. although Don has helped me tremendously with the teeth. I have no confidence when it comes to them yet. I honestly don't know how you guys can keep them all straight... lol

Lisa, the more I look at that Hemi, the more I like it. The curved tip is so cool. The little Alopias is an awesome tooth also. It is amazing what comes out of this Lee Creek matrix. There is more available if anyone is interested.

Thanks Don and the pictures don't do the curve on the hemi justice. I love that tooth! lol And as you know the thresher threw me for a loop being so different than the other teeth I found in this matrix. It was a super wonderful surprise. :D If anyone is considering this matrix you won't be disappointed! :)
