KYAL
Went to a site yesterday where I know others have taken out trilobites. So I gave it a try. Found four hunks of rock each with a hint that a trilobite is hiding within. The pictures are progressively rock and trilobite within. I have never done a prep. I don't want to make an investment yet in expensive tools. I do have a dremel and dental picks. Any suggestions on how to proceed would be most welcome? squalicorax
Nice work man. There are some complete ones to be found somewhere in that site. Have you been to Maysville? There is a good amount of articulated trilobites there. My Flickr Page of My Collection: http://www.flickr.com/photos/79424101@N00/sets
Taogan
Most of them look like they might only be partial and there are brachiopods and other bits in there as well so I would just give the whole rock a good brushing with a stiff brush and see what it looks like with all the other things and if anything looks complete. It might clean easier if you soak it overnight in very dilute bleach, but then you should soak it in clean water after you've brushed it. That's how I treat my Silurian Wenlock Limestone. After that I can see clearly if anything needs to be developed further, but it rarely does.
KYAL
No I haven't been over to Maysville. Guess I'll have to try it some time. Thanks for the tip!
KYAL
Taogan, you are probably right that these are only partials. I keep hoping to find an obvious complete one.
