squalicorax
Found and prepped this Calymene from the Osgood Shale I found a couple of weeks ago. Is this a celebra? Or a breviceps... piranha
Calymene celebra appears to be the valid Osgood species as C. breviceps occurs only in the Waldron Shale of Indiana and Tennessee. The easiest way to tell this is not C. breviceps is the frontomedian glabellar lobe does not protrude over the cephalic anterior border. A couple of photos illustrating that feature are attached for comparison. Congrats on the great trilobite! Edgecombe, G.D., & Adrain, J.M. (1995) Silurian Calymenid Trilobites from the United States. squalicorax
Thanks guys. The matrix is very soft, very easy to prep with pin and air abrader. Will finish up the prep soon and post another picture. All that was exposed was the top of the segments. Found a roller in the matrix that is flattened but much larger.
