rangerbrandon
I am new to fossil hunting and thinking about making a trip up this July to look for some goodies. I have looked online for spots to search and to see if there are any tour companies, but to no avail. My only fossil hunting I have done will be Peace River in Florida (going next week), so I have no experience or any idea of searching in bedrock/shale (Not really sure the right name of it, to be frank). If anyone would like to brave the summer heat with me and show me the ropes or give me some really good tips it would be GREATLY appreciated. I am looking at July 7-14 but I am flexible. Thanks in advance!
ashcraft
Check out the Eastern Missouri Society for Paleontology website, they list a number of places in the St. Louis area. If you want a driving tour, there is a geologic guide book for Interstate 55 that is an excellent source. It is available on-line. fkaa
Xiphactinus
As it gets closer, shoot me a message. Maybe we can go pound some rocks together... :-)
