Suggestions On Mounting Of Shark Tooth Assemblages?

Recommended Posts

I have been visiting the Ernst Quarries in Bakersfield CA recently as it is relatively close to my home and I need a periodic fossil fix.

I am approaching a nice array of the STH fauna and its time to think of a display.

I am asking for suggestions on how to mount teeth in a non-destructive fashion.

I take it that you are asking how to attach your fantastic teeth collection to a hanging display. I have arrowheads attached with white glue (Elmers) which I have observed no damage to them. It is easily soaked and washed off if one wished to remove from the display. See what others have to say about the subject----Tom

Rikers are good for organizing, display, and storage.

First I want to say those are some fabulous teeth. Definitely a collection worth displaying prominently.

I agree with Auspex and would consider using Riker mounts for them.

My grand kids have some sticky stuff that they use to stick stuff to the walls. It is like plastercene only it is very sticky and you can use just a tad or a gob .. which ever suits. It all comes off in a lump when you want to take it off as it doesn't get any harder than soft rubber. I don't know what it is called but I think it is available in the dollar store here.

I am thinking about trying it for a display, but haven't yet.

Cheers

I believe you are talking about museum putty. It is pretty good stuff and 100% removable. It holds pretty well also.
