JohnBrian
I was up there yesterday (Thursday). Found a grand total of 3 1/2 teeth (one missing the root) and the tip of a tooth. No megs . Picked up a few interesting bones & some micro stuff. I'm going to post a trip report with photos tomorrow unless the weather is really nice (like clouds & low temps) so I'll go back over there. Assuming I'm recovered from today! (I have severe arthritis in my back & moderate in my hands so it is very hard to dig, bend over, etc. My back feels better tonight but my hands hurt.) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- John I had a friend once, but the wheels fell off. JohnBrian
Very Cool. How hard is it to remove the matrix? Its a little less hard than cement . From the marks I have seen in the dig walls it appears most people use a pick. To say you might have some damaged fossils from using a pick would be an understatement! Using my shovel I was able to get about an inch in the material--- a strong young guy might be able to get four inches or more with a good sharp shovel. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- John I had a friend once, but the wheels fell off. digit
Whoa! That has to be the prettiest mako I've ever seen. So much more color and depth than what we pull from rivers down here in Florida. How much prep did that one take? Cheers. -Ken
FossilForKids
Here are some colorful makos I have dug up n the Ant Hill vicinity and a hulking mako from the west quarryf the Ernst property. Not to mention this classic firezone meg. If only my teeth are so prized a million years from now!
digit
Those makos look like they came from the box of 64 Crayola crayons--great tones and nuances. Our Peace River makos and megs look like they came off the Henry Ford Model T assembly line: "You can have any color as long as it's black." Cheers. -Ken
