Found this little fella Monday at a Middle Devonian site near Turbotsville, PA. Thought it might be a crinoid calyx since there were a lot of crinoid stems and root bases also present. Let me know what you think, also the species if you can guess. Then again the possibility of a concretion always looms large. Rugose corals were also abundant and so were brachiopods and trilobites. Good luck and thanks.

Jeff,

That's an interesting piece. I am not seeing enough detail to make any reasonable ID.

I wonder if maybe it's a holdfast rather than a calyx.

I am stumped.

I don't see it either, but I would like to see some of your trilos :) I'm heading to pa near turbotsville for my birthday (6-22) to collect with my children and my brother and his fiancée. Maybe we could meet up as we are also hoping to go to saint Claire and deer lake while we are in the vicinity.

Would love to get together, but I'll be heading out to Utah and the Grand Canyon that weekend. I've visited all three sites you mentioned and know very worthwhile fossils can be found at each of them. You should have a great time- a wonderful way to celebrate your birthday. Maybe we can get together some other time. Best wishes and have a great birthday celebration.

Jeff

P.S.- These are my trilobite finds from three separate visits to Turbotsville.
