barefootgirl
Here are my favorite finds. The tooth is my all time best find I think. The little orange arrowhead is unique because of the natural green heart design at the top. All of these were found in our creek. In formal logic, a contradiction is the signal of defeat: but in the evolution of real knowledge, it marks the first step in progress toward victory. Northern Sharks
Great topic, and now that I have my computer back, I can contribute. My top three would have to be 3) the last tooth I bought last year, a very rare complete Paraisurus macrorhiza 2) my first decent crinoid, Cupulocrinus humilis. Even with predation/scavenger damage, I still like it. 3.5 inches long 1) my first trilobite, a large Isotelus gigas. This one had to win simply because it took 3 hrs to haul out of the quarry (by hand, no cart) and cost me a broken thumb and dozens of scrapes and bruises There's no limit to what you can accomplish when you're supposed to be doing something else

Fat Boy
My first bison tooth: My second and best piece of shark cartilage: Tie for 3rd: Melanogrammus conjunctus (Pliocene cod like fish) otoliths: and the trace fossil that has me cracking up every time I see the pic: Kevin Wilson
obsessed1
First I must say everyones finds posted so far are are just awesome!! For me the best was an easy choice but after that it got really tough. I was lucky enough to find several nice things this past year and they are all special to me in one way or another. But choices had to be made so here we go!!! In 3rd place would be my first ever Parotodus benedeni It was found in the PCS mine in Aurora. 2nd would be my lower Isurus hastalis from Calvert Cliffs. It is my biggest Mako from anywhere at 2 13/16" And in 1st would have to be my Dolphin skull also from Calvert Cliffs. It is the highlight for my fossil collection at this time. PaleoPutz
and here are my top 3 fossils from '08. http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?ac...st&id=18001 Well if I pulled a rooted tooth out of a river I am fairly sure I would pass out... No one would find me until someone pulled my fossilized rear end out of the same spot.... Or the skull of a Tylosaur, or one of those points, or the 8 billion shark teeth in the same matrix, or 60 crinoids (are you serious!) Incredible stuff guys... I have turned 16 shades of green reading this thread.
Auspex
My three favorites from '08: A fully inflated egg on an indusial limestone matrix with an (possibly) associated bone (Oligocene, France). Liaoxornis delicates, part and counterpart (Lowest Cretaceous, China). Penguin skull, Spheniscus sp. (Miocene, Atacama Desert, Chile). Let's see what '09 brings our way!
