Sélacien34
Hello, this bony fish vertebra doesn't look to be fossilised but recent, did you find it at the same place as the teeth that you have presented before ? Sélacien34
Did you find some new informations about this place? Some informations about the age of the geologic layers around, by contacting an australian specialist or by looking to a geologic map ? I would be interested, curious, to see pictures of the specific places where you have found the teeth and this vertebra. Did you find them directly on the beach ? Maybe you can find the family of the fish from which came this vertebra here : http://osteobase.mnh...e=16&idTaxon=25 Edited June 5, 2014 by Sélacien34
aussiefossils
So in saying recently does that mean the last few weeks or ??? Thanks Edited June 6, 2014 by aussiefossils
Sélacien34
It should be light and porous. The tooth of Galeocerdo that you have showed was a true fossil, the one of Carcharhinus probably leucas, seems to show a beginning of diagenesis process, but not this vertebra, that is why I asked for clarification in the previous message.
