Half Of A Large Calcaneum

At least it is the "complex" half..... This is a well fossilized find. Are there features that could help to distinguish between horse, bison or camel? The length is slightly larger than 3 inches.. but obviously broke with 55% missing.

It definitely belongs to a large artiodactyl, bison are much 'broader' for lack of a better term. My money is on camel.

Edit: I tried adding a comparison of bison and camel calcaneums but I'm having uploading issues tonight.

Here is a link to one of Harry's comparisons again, much better quality than I could come up with on short notice. http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/gallery/image/8-artiodactyl-calcanea-a/

Thanks Calhounensis!!!

I believe that it is camel also -- I tried to position this photo the same as Harry's. The width at the "ball" is a touch over 2.5 inches.post-2220-0-27743900-1402196871_thumb.jpg
