K-boy Cachers Posted June 17, 2014 Share Posted June 17, 2014 So we went down to the park this evening that is two blocks away. Same park as my post called 'soccer for you, fossils for me.' The two youngest boys and I went to the playground, but the 10 year old went to do his thing. After about 15 minutes, he came to report that he thought he "found another full ammonite." We find so many broken chunks of oxytropidoceras in the central Texas marl, but occasionally, a complete one can be found. This time, I was prepared with a multi-purpose tool, so I went to work. We were able to carve it out fairly well, and on the previous advice of forum members, we decided to extract this time. It did end up breaking into 6 manageable pieces, but we'll work on putting them back together tomorrow. We love this hobby! Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You practically step on the stuff just walking around out here. When I was in NM, all I knew of were some of the college sites, so I know what you mean about easy access to hunting areas.
