Unusual Mid-Devonian Fossils From Gilboa, Ny

Hi Everyone,

I recently spent some time in New York, and being the fossil fanatic I am, couldn't resist visiting the Gilboa area to see what I could find. Gilboa is famous for its 380-385 million year old fossil forest.

During the short hike, I collected various specimens, none of which I could identify (not being an expert or anything even close). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

Regards

P.S many photo so may have to post them in comments.

Hi there!

My husband and I were also in Gilboa this weekend, and we found a very similar fossil to the last one that you've posted! I'm not sure what it is, either - but I'll be keeping my eye on your thread!

This ripple-marks-with-worm-trails is very cool!

Agree with the ripple marks and trace fossils. The fifth pic is a clam and the 6th pic is brachiopods,

This ripple-marks-with-worm-trails is very cool!

What do you interpret as being the worm trail? it possibly just some random rock "stuck" on the fossil?

Also, does anyone know the exact genera of any of these fossils.

The second photo is a classic trace fossil they are probably feeding trails, You basically have a snapshot of an ocean floor showing wave action that created the ripples and the traces of animals that were feeding in the lime mud.

First picture in post one looks plant-ish.

You also have a a brachiopod in the last pic, and a bivalve of some sort in post 3.

What do you interpret as being the worm trail?..

I highlighted the one that is easiest to recognize as such:
