Hi Guys

I was just walking on the beach on Berry Island Reserve in North Sydney and saw these marks on the rock, Just wanted to check if they are fossils and if yes what are they?

Thanks

Are you referring to these darker features?

They may be of organic origin, and if so would be fossils if they are older that 10,000 years.

More than that, I cannot say from the pictures. Do you know the age of the stratum?

They look to me like carbonized plant bits.

I thought they look like extremely weathered brachiopods, in cross-section. It does look like a hash of some sort.

That one doesn't look Triassic and the fossils look like plant bits as Auspex has stated.. maybe you could double check on the age.. could it have been misplaced?

Cheers
