Idea For Blog Post, Souvenir Fossils

Recommended Posts

Tessy

I live and rockhound in Michigan and I can't even spell P-E-T-O-S-K-E-Y stone. Always forget the second 'e'. But this has given me an idea, to make a list of not just each of the 50 states state fossil but those that have become each states most identifiable or touristy keepsake, like Michigan's Petoskey stone.(if they don't have fossils then a gemstone or rock).

Alabama: Okay, right off the bat AL is a good example...state fossil is a whale; Basilosaurus cetoides, and that's not something you can take home as a souvenir. So I need to look into it deeper. This could be a bit of work.

Alaska

Arizona

....etc.

Does anyone know of any off the top of your head...I think I bit off more than i can chew. Thanks.
