Teeth After The Rain In North Texas

Headed out to Post Oak today since we have had some rain. Headed out very early this morning and had only a couple of hours to hunt. Didn't have as much luck as I expected after a good rain but found a few good teeth worth sharing. Lastly, I saw a point of an arrow head and to my suprise itwas complete. Only second one I have ever found there.

Those teeth are sweet but a Native American point would have been the Trip Maker for me.

Cheers.

Doesn't look like you did too bad at all. I would have been happy with your finds. Well done!

Not complaining. Very lucky to have that so close by. The point is a huge success for me. I have found a partial point before. Very happy with my teeth as well. It is always fun to just be in the creek and in sub 70 degree weather in July in Texas ..... priceless!

Looks like your point may be a uniface scraper. Is is relatively flat on the other side?

I am thinking it might be a pencil drill?? Found this on the internet. It is similar on both sides. Not flat.

Very nice finds, congrats!

Every once in a great while it's not just a big rock down there!

My neighbor has a nine year old and we took a father son shark tooth hunt this morning. It was their first hunt. They found some nice teeth including a perfect squalicorax as well as a beautiful 3/4 inch mackeral. My five year old found a nice complete scaponaryncus tx in between chucking rocks in the water. I think I created a couple more fossil hunters this morning. The weather coul not have been better. Tough to believe it is July in Texas as cool as it was this morning. Didn't add much to my collection but we had a really nice day. I did find one thing I will add to the id section later that I found.

Sounds like a great hunt. Even if you didn't add much to your personal collection you've at least indoctrinated a few more into the cult of fossils...

Enjoy the cool weather while it lasts--it's likely not going to last.

Cheers.

Nice cretolamna shark teeth! The point is interesting. I don't think it was finished though, but maybe. Im no expert. But first look, it looks like of pre-form.

DO, or do not. There is no try.

That creek once produced a great abundance of these.

Getting more difficult to find more than a few these days.

Found my first "Ray verts" there. Eight articulated with predation damage.

I would also love to see those. Please post some pics.

Is this a reply to my post?

Because I sold them back in the 80's, only got one left.

3" across and 1.8' thick.

I'll see if I can dig it out of storage.
