I was thinking of heading up to Chippokes State park soon for a nice outting and was hoping if someone could tell me the best fossil hunting areas there and around the surrounding areas.

Thanks.

Typically state parks are off limits to fossil collecting.

Yup. They're pretty strict with the removal of anything from the park.

Surface collecting is indeed permitted from the James River beach at this park. :)

It sure is and if you find a good area , search very closely. I have found a bunch of very good teeth within a 5 yard area near the edge of the park.
