I was scuba diving 40 miles off Wilmington, NC and was 103' down and found this bone among whale bone fragments and meglodon teeth. I thought at first it was a vertebrae but do not think so anymore. Would someone be able to help me identify what it is?

thanks in advance,

What does the reverse side look like?

Nevermind. I thought the one side was cleaned in the other photos. Is this correct?

My guess is that it might be a cranial element. Possibly whale, by size and association.

Yes, you are correct.

yeah, I htink it is some piece of whale skull. That is only a guess, but the holes in it suggest it.
