I subscribe to the 'final blow' idea, but also to the idea that the events directly weakening the dinosaurs' position were largely less dramatic; namely, the ascendancy of flowering plants and their development of 'chemical warfare'. The world in which dinosaurs rose to primacy had slowly ceased to exist, in ways that they failed to fully adapt to.
