jpwhite82
Hey everyone, so I have no clue as to what this one might be.The only thing I can think of is a trace fossil of some sorts. I am not sure where I found this one but most likely off the North Carolina coast. Thanks for the help! Image 1 of

ReeseF
It reminds me of a few pieces at http://www.thefossilforum.com/index.php?/topic/29717-turtle-shells-and-vertabra-id-florida/ --hopefully someone with more experience can chime in! kauffy
General morphology suggests a worn ray plate? jpwhite82
Thanks for the help guys! At one point I was leaning towards a ray plate but the size was throwing me off. Most of the ones I have are around 1/4 inch, so this specimen being much larger made identifying it much harder. After doing some more research this morning I am leaning towards a ray mouth plate. I haven't found one that looks exactly like mine but there are some that look very similar on this page: http://www.phatfossils.com/species.php?species=Ray%20Plate&thisOffset=10&lineIndex=
