Fossil Great White Shark Tooth!

Here is my first Great White Shark tooth that I bought, it measures 42mm (1.6 inches) in length, and was found in South Carolina. I love the blue colouration of the enamel. This will be the first of many, I've heard that this hobby is addictive, and I'm already looking for the next tooth to add to my collection. I want to start a nice collection of primarily Great White teeth, that is by far my favourite species, and there are some really nice looking fossil teeth out there! Anyway, here are the pics :)

Thanks. I actually got this one from ebay, and have been looking at some really nice specimens on there that are in great condition. I've seen some nice looking Peruvian teeth.

I love Gt. White teeth that are nice and fat in the middle like this; they just seem to "hulk". :)

Hi you have a nice tooth but you have the photos in the wrong order, what you have listed as the front is the back of the. The front of the tooth is the second photo. George

Thank you for pointing that out, I have now corrected it. I always thought that the display side was the front of the tooth. At least I know better now :)

Nice tooth....

I think this must be the guy that you bought it from.... https://www.flickr.com/photos/108825294@N02/14997196032/

Or maybe that is your Flickr account.... :)

Thanks. And yes, that is my flickr account haha :)

Me too, I love the teeth that have the blue coloured enamel. And I'm already searching ebay for the next GW tooth to buy :)

There are many beautiful and colorful GW specimens out there if your are patient. You might like Makos as well. They are similar in shape to a GW without the serrations and come in a multitude of colors ;)

I have been looking at some Makos on ebay, am I correct in thinking that the species those large Mako teeth come from has now been placed in the same genus as the Great White? unlike the modern Mako species which are in a completely different genus.

Nice start to your collection. Welcome aboard!

Thanks! :)

Well, the debate still rages from what I can see. There are others here that know far more about it than myself.

Here's an article from NBCnews that suggests that they are related.
