Scutes?

Found the two bones??/scutes?? laying on an exposure of the Smoky Hill Chalk, lower 1/3. Did some research and had no luck finding anything like them. Any help would be appreciated. Pictures are big, so there will be multiple posts. Thank you. Picture 1.

am wanting to make broken off vertebral processes out of them but it's tough, my vague comments will provide a bump though

Thanks Plax. I did some more research and found what I believe I have on Oceans of Kansas. They look like the coracoid bones of a fish called Protosphyraena. That's makes sense because I am always finding their fins.
