More Florida Plio Pleistocene Gastropod Questions

Hey Gang, I'm going thru and trying to put more labels on things. These are all surface finds from Sarasota, Florida. Probably Tamiami (Pinecrest beds) or Caloosahatchee formation material. Does anyone have a list of what Crucibulum's you have from Florida and can confirm any of these? MikeR I saw your list--thanks for the earlier post--mighty good stuff there!

I think I have the following along with some similar shaped Calyptraea and Diodoras.

1 Crucibulum multineatum

2 Crucibulum spinosum

3 Calyptraea centralis

4 Crucibulum sp.

5 Crucibulum scutellatum

6 Diodora sp. (maybe D. caloosaensis)

7 Crucibulum (maybe C. ramosum)

I realize I'm trying to shortcut this with group shots so if something individually needs photographing please let me know. Balancing cones on their top didnt go well 1st pass thru but can be done if needed. #4 stumps me particularly. I thought they might just be poorly preserved water worn versions of #7 but they seem for lack of better terminology taller and chunkier and more hershey kiss shaped than those pictured in the rest of the #7 group.

Welcome all comments. Thanks!

Regards, Chris

Hey Mike, thanks a ton and with the proper credits!. I might get this stuff organized yet. I unfortunately can't get enough of this stuff, invertebrates or otherwise--I'm sidetracked again taking a break from house chores now and eating lunch and I'm still browsing fossil stuff. Geesh! I actually work less than a mile as the crow flies from the APAC pits...I dont need to go there---as there aint enough empty 5 gallon buckets available in Home Depot and Lowe's to begin to lug home/review all of the variety there.

Thanks again! Regards, Chris

Well, the bifocals still make it easy to recognize shapes and I can still see colors so anything is fair game as long as it aint moving and doesnt look like a snake!

I thought you were going out this morning...what the heck are you doing on here! :) I still may run down to Ellenton, some of the major chores are done and the heck with the rest of them--its a stinking holiday! Regards, Chris
