Auspex
This is a first! The Fossil Forum's Member of the Month poll for September, 2014, resulted in a tie, broken in overtime by one vote. Each of these esteemed members, Ash and fossilized6s, have earned the right to wear the crown for a month: Ash for September, 2014, and fossilized6s for October, 2014, the order being determined by the overtime tie-breaker. Ash, hailing from 'Straya (that's Australia to the rest of us) has been a member for a bit over a year and a half, mesmerizing us with his Down Under fossil conquests, particularly those amazing Pleistocene marsupials. In fact, no fossil anywhere in the wild is completely safe, as even a casual perusal of his posts will show! Good on 'ya, Mate! You're a pleasure to have on board (even if your water goes down the drain backwards ). fossilized6s has been sharing his big heart and good nature with us for just six months, but he has nonetheless earned our community's respect and appreciation with his congenial contributions and sometimes thrilling fossiling escapades. He has shown, with deeds and ideas, that he cares enthusiastically for his fellow members, and for the Forum itself. Charlie, thank you for being who you are! fossilized6s
I'd like to start off by saying i truly appreciate the wealth of knowledge, insight, helpfulness and good nature of all of this forum's members. If it wasn't for the great community here half of the World would think they have found fossilized dino eggs. Haha I've always been a rock hound and adventurer. Exploring and learning from insects to anatomy. There really isn't anything that i don't care to learn about, especially the natural world. Most of my family were drawn to minerals, but being color blind (a color blind artist.....life's cruel joke) it was hard for me to distinguish between each mineral. So i found fossils a fun and thought inspiring hobby. Finding traces of long dead creatures amazed me, and continues to today. At age 5 I would sift through my parents pea gravel for hours just to find tiny water worn crinoids. Needless to say, they loved it! Haha As did i. As i grew older i moved on to bigger and better finds. But in all that time i never appreciated to learn formations, ages, locations, names, etc. That's where this forum comes in. Now i had always thought the bigger the fossil the better. But joining this forum i quickly discovered the awesomeness of micro fossils! Now i have quite the collection. I also learned that the more i know about formations the better my hunting will be. This forum has shown me to appreciate the littlest finds to the biggest. I continue to learn daily on here, and i try to pass on what ever knowledge i can. Im genuinly excited for noobs when they find a small fossil, because i knew how excited i was to find anything. I've also made some good friends through here. And i find it pretty cool that where ever i go in the U.S. (even the World) i can meet up with fellow TFF members for a hunt. I am truly blessed to be able to hunt as much as i do. A big THANK YOU to everyone who has helped me and continues to spread their knowledge daily on here! Good luck hunting! ~Charlie~ "There are those that look at things the way they are, and ask why.....i dream of things that never were, and ask why not?" ~RFK ->Get your Mosasaur print ->How to spot a fake Trilobite ->How to identify a CONCRETION from a DINOSAUR EGG
