Bev
I noticed this rock last year at my favorite quarry, but no fossils. This year WOW! I just had to have it! Maclurites & Hormatomas showing. Ordovician Stewartville member of the Galena I decided to make this specimen rock into a seat near the entrance of my home. There are 4 cement blocks set under it. I love to sit there and feed the chickens treats. The tape measure on the back is for scale and Henny Penny decided to pose as well. LOL A closer look at the top. And yes, that is a tiny troll house in front. Brand New Grandma, so I have been rather preoccupied of late. The more I learn, I realize the less I know. tmaier
Hi Bev, Nice place to contemplate... and thanks for the Maclurites tip. Somebody sent me some fossils and I received two of those, and didn't know what they were, until now.

John K
That is really cool, Bev. My wife and I built a bench like that down on a local river years ago where we used to camp (it didn'thave nearly as many gastropods on it, though - just one or two...)Congrats on being Grandma; my baby girl just started college this year... Bev
Thank you all so much! This rock is TOTALLY AWESOME! And being a Totally Immersed Grandma (And yes it is soooo much easier!), I will totally bore you with the last two scrapbook pages I've done. I'm a long distance Grandma as they are in Boston. They are posting photos on a site called Tinybeans.com The only way I can see being a Grandma long distance is to scrapbook my love and when she gets older Skype. Baby Elise is just 4 weeks old... And yes, she is a red head like my son. My son and his wife are professionals, so Baby Elise will have everything. Of course part of my Birth Day gift to her was fossils! I explained the meanings - A bit of Latin to start her out. - as collecting rocks seems to be generational in my family. Edited September 9, 2014 by Bev The more I learn, I realize the less I know. caldigger
Well...have you thought about what fossils you are going to make her crib mobile out of? Sounds like that sort of thing would be right up your alley. Love the bench by the way!

It's hard to remember why you drained the swamp when your surrounded by alligators.
