Trilobite Hunting

DE&i

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

I've been granted access to two working quarries in Much Wenlock , Shropshire, UK. For a bit of trilobite hunting.

They are rare...but I'm keen any tips or advice please.

Heres a link to the general area.

Thanks guys..really looking forward to it. Much Wenlock was once a 700 year old medieval village and was the forerunner to the modern Olympic Games..!

Darren.

I was able to collect at Wrens Nest (Dudley) several years ago, and found several partial trilobites but nothing whole. The only advise I can offer is to look at lots of photos (or even better, specimens if you can) to get a good "search image" before you go. You'll probably be looking for exposed bits peeking out of the rock, so it's critical to be able to recognize them. My Dudley bits are a nice brown color that stands out from the rock well, but perhaps if things are dusty in the quarry a spray bottle of water might help to wet things down and improve contrast.

Good luck!

Don

Classic site! Best of luck and will be looking forward to your report and pics. I have some brachs from Dudley but never collected there before.
