Triceratops
Heres some work by Charles Knight, a famous paleoartist from the early 20th century. His work is incredible and he was the first paleoartist to draw dinosaurs as active animals as opposed to sluggish fat thingies in his painting, Leaping Laelaps. Please post your favourite pictures of "old fashioned" prehistoric critters -Lyall

Koss1959
I really love the old depictions of dinosaurs and extinct animals. Despite their inaccuracies, they're very cool. Everything was out to kill each other, even sauropods and other herbivorous dinosaurs. I love the old interpretation of Iguanodon. I have this one in an old 90's dinosaur book. Crazy how things have changed in such a short space of time. Cam28
One of my favorite pictures of all time, John Sibbick's Dimetrodon & Edaphosaurus painting. It's still retro to me d*mn it lol.
LordTrilobite
I really like the Crystal Palace Park statues. Even though they are horribly inaccurate now. they still have a certain charm. Olof Moleman AKA Lord Trilobite

Triceratops
I've all ways liked John Sibbick's stuff. His work looks convincing, not like some art where the animals look more like somthing out of a fantasy book!:-) -Lyall

Fossildude19
The Age of Reptiles mural by Rudolf F. Zalinger, in the Yale-Peabody Museum, has always captured my attention when going into the dinosaur exhibit there. These pictures do not do the colors justice - it is pretty incredible to see in person, despite the fact the the dinosaurs are more dated looking. Full poster viewable HERE. Neat thread - thanks for starting it. Regards, EDIT: LINK to a neat article about Zalinger - he also created the March of Progress mural as well. Triceratops
Nice pictures! Is that the mural that inspired Robert Bakker to become a paleontologist, the ankylosaur looks a bit small next to the tyrannosaur. -Lyall

Arion
Man these bring back memories...is Sibbick really considered retro now? His stuff always had such a trademark realism to it.

I remember when I was in gr.5 I managed to read the old vintage copy of that book from where that painting came from and I also fell in love with the whole art work of the book.
